Lacrosse Day 1

After being on vacation with nowhere to throw or shoot, I’m glad to be back home and able to get my stick in my hands!  Today, I went to my local elementary school and played wall ball.  I usually stick around for an hour and throw and choose several things to work on, but today I went through the entire routine.

My wall ball routine:

**50 reps of each of the following, BOTH HANDS!

1 handed top of stick just under the head
1 handed middle of stick
1 handed butt of stick
Normal, 1 cradle
Side arm
Over the shoulder throw
Catch opposite side of body, throw normal
Throw right catch left (always switching hands in between catching AND throwing)
Throw left catch right (always switching hands in between catching AND throwing)
Throw right, turn and run as if the ball was on a clear, catch right handed over the right shoulder
Throw left, turn and run as if the ball was on a clear, catch left handed over the left shoulder
*Prepare to recover from being dizzy after the two above
Behind the back (BTB)
Around the world
Loop around back hand throw
Throw at wall low and upward so the ball shoots up high and catch with 1 hand at bottom of stick (similating draws)
Quick stick
Quick stick over the shoulder (OTS)
25 Quick stick combination (right, left, right OTS, left OTS, right BTB, right around the world)

Total: 1 hour, 40 minutes

Awesome routine, but very tiring!  If you’re not tired right away you’re not doing it right!  Not to mention the one handed throws/catches at the beginning are killers on the wrist so they set the tone juuust right for the rest of the routine. 🙂  Also, note to self… it is a horrible idea to drink a cup of coffee only and go do this routine.  Probably a better idea to get some breakfast in you first and bring a bottle of water.

Until tomorrow… BANC!
